1. Same ABI criteria as resting study to identify severity of disease post-exercise
2. Report type of exercise: treadmill or toe-ups
Normal findings:
a. No decrease in ABI post-exercise
b. Decrease of <20 mmHg in absolute ankle pressure with full recovery in <3 minutes
Positive (abnormal) findings:
c. A decrease in ABI post-exercise should also be accompanied with a drop in ankle pressure to be positive
d. Decrease in absolute ankle pressure of >20 mmHg or >20%
e. Decrease in ABI of >0.2
Recovery time
f. 2-6 minutes: suggests single level disease
g. 6-12 minutes: suggests multi-level disease
Note: Navix protocol is to obtain post-exercise pressure measurements immediately, at 5 minutes and at 10 minutes in any limb that exhibits a pressure drop.
